no, she wanted to leave to pursue other opportunities

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure she left at her own will. I think it was a mistake. It was the beginning of the end for the OC. So I guess maybe it ultimately was the best decision for Mischa, but it still sucks cause the OC used to be a very cleverly written show, but it had went downhill the last season or so. Maybe if they'd done something to make her stay, the show wouldn't have been cancelled. A guy can dream.

The OC's been cancelled?!??!! No way, I used to love that (admittedly I missed most of series 2 and all of series 3...so I was a bit gutted by the old plot spoiler that Marissa had died!)! Good GRIEF! I am SO out of the loop. And now all this talk of Mark Harmon leaving NCIS... Gosh. How's a girl to cope?!!?

Still, the best part EVER in any episode of the OC was in season 2 when Seth sang his Chrismukkah carol... "Jesus and Moses, they both had beards..." Classic.

The PC answer of course, is that she left to further her career, however the rumor mill says that she was fired. Apparently, her diva-like behavior and terrible acting all contributed.
