How do you thank someone?

I'm not going into much detail on what I'm thanking them for even though I know thats an important part..

Anyway... do you just say thanks?... get them a gift... write em a poem... long dramatic speech on how they helped u?

I guess a simple thank u works... not sure though.

I am getting ready to write a heart felt Thank You to a Doctor who did a wonderful thing for me by doing a outstanding surgery on my foot/ankle. I am sending the doctor a gift of appreciation for all he has taken me through and to. Follow your heart, I am.
