There was an article in USA today about another state that made welfare cuts, and do you know what the people who had been on welfare forever did....they went to work, several of their children were the 1st in generations to go to college and graduate.
I've worked in the affordable housing industry for years, and this is the basic mentality of most people on housing....they get a job, then quit it before they have to report it so they don't loose their free housing. If these same people would do the math, they'd realize that they'd be better off financially keeping the job and paying the rent. This happens OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER.
I would go out to visit our properties in LA & San Francisco, and I would get so angry, here I am busting my butt day in and day out, and I drive a Mitsubishi Mirage, whereas some of the residents who lived at our property getting 100% of their rent paid from MY tax dollars were actually driving around brand new Lincoln Navigators which even used go for over 30,000. This is my personal experience from working w/ over 100 affordable apartment communities and this was normal at every one of them.
Welfare has become a crutch in this country w/ generation after generation relying on it. Whereas when people are forced out of the situation, they finally find out that they can survive on their own. In states that have reduced their welfare, the poverty levels actually go down......why???? Because the people on welfare go out, get jobs so that they can feed their families.
So no, the idea of hungry children doesn't make me feel better than sex.... does the idea of keeping people down, that are more than capable of going out and bettering themselves make you sleep better at night.
And, no-one is going to take away welfare from people who can't do for themselves. So, don't even try using that lame, sheep like rhetorical response.
Ever wonder why you get rude responses to questions, take another look at the wording of your question.
qncyguy21, how am I going to post a link to my own personal experience w/ 100 affordable properties and the people that lived there?

a million no the protection rigidity funds couldnt be decrease by technique of 80-ninety% even with the certainty that it might desire to and could be decrease some. 2 I extremely have study money to israel and be attentive to the way it works. you will possibly desire to have not. 3 specific the u . s . does spend super quantities on it. your thoroughly incorrect that the properly known is inferior besides the undeniable fact that. 4 wide-spread wellbeing care might shrink teh fee of a visit isntead of an emergency visit. besides the undeniable fact that the people who use emergency care like that would have generally or thoroughly backed insurance. so the widespread fee diff wont be what you think of that is. 5 they might develop taxes on the large wealthy. i'll ask who're you to declare they make too a lot? of direction those large wealthy might have much less money to spend. 6 I competely accept as true with you on lowering the variety of, and the size of , goverment agencies you probably did hit a homerun with this actual merchandise. 7 lowering company welfare, specific. How a lot do you think of teh conservatives prefer to lessen welfare? is there some variety you have considered? Oh and do you have any theory how a lot the money spent on social courses is in comparison to declare the finished protection funds? medicare/medicaid on my own has a heavily greater fee than the finished protection funds.

I don't know about other conservatives, but frankly I'm thrilled. It would be one thing if I knew for a fact that the money was going to feeding children and not to people who abuse the system (or aren't even citizens). If you're really worried about the kids, why not write to the Governor and suggest a program dedicated to feeding hungry children? Better yet, why not get off your a$$ and take up a petition instead of bitching about it online?

The issue is clouded to some it seem's. As a nation we have to figue out a way to make sure that our nation's children dont starve even if they do in fact have worthless parents. I am all for getting these people off of welfare but at the same time we cant just cut them out, kids cant fend for themselves. It is not thier fault they were brought into a bad situation. It is a very hard and complicated issue to deal with. God bless the children!!!!!

Yes I am thrilled.
The idea of children growing up with a work ethic is pretty close to sex. It's scores 8 of a possible 10.
And just because welfare is cut off doesn't mean that they can't still get food stamps and other benefits through WIC; so I don't think the kids will starve.

Well it should be screened more, i mean there are people on it, their kids on it, their kids live off it... when does it stop...? People use the system, and people like you and me, cant get nothin for nothin... The hard workin man . People who really need it, should get it, but if their just LAZY, they need to get off their Lazy Butt and Work!! We dont owe anyone a living that is able to work... And DONT have kids if you cant AFFORD them.... Some welfare mothers have more and more kids, so they can get more money... thats sick!!! or welfare people take advantage of the medical- if they get a hang nail, they rush to emergency!!! sorry i work with the public, and i see a lot of frauds!!!! so i do support the Govenator!!!

Does the idea of WORK offend some people or are some that are on welfare hate the idea of working for a living?? Let's face it: there are lots of people living on welfare merely because they'd rather sit on their lazy butts and collect at the expense of taxpayers! Us hard-working people that aren't allergic to work are feeding the welfare system and many are taking advantage of it, meaning, instead of getting a job and a life, they're sitting back collecting while others work their butts off to keep them on welfare so they don't HAVE to work like the rest of us that do.

California Spends $10 billion Yearly On Illegals & It Has A $5 billion Deficit This Year. What should be done?
In the past, California has taken out loans to cover the debt. This year that won't happen and tough decisions will need to be made.

Blue Steel & Lace, thinks car jacking is a work ethic lol!!
that is exactly what is going to happen!
obviously people here have not one clue about welfare, or any of its reipients.
-don't know states can determine exactly what portion of the block grant you get, if you even get it at all
-don't know that welfare lowers crime rate
-don't know that most of the people on welfare are elderly, and children
-don't know that Bush wants to cut Americans off welfare, so he can give the money to foriegn nations
-don't know welfare benefits everyone from creating a healthier, more sanitary environment, and lessens the spread of disease, as well as, provides the labor market with skilled labor through education, AND some domestic security measures to combat terror falls under social-welfare program budget!!
-destitute people are easier to recruit as terrorist!
hey texaschick, how about posting a link!
and you are referring to the FEW, who deal drugs and live on welfare, se the all the time in big cities, but they are still a minority, whether you wish to fess up to your BS or not!! There is NO welfare recipient, that is going to be able to buy a 30,000 automobile just living on welfare, and not all welfare recipients sell dope, so please save the drama!

Well, remember former President Clinton? One of the most successful actions he took was to sign the welfare reform act, where were you then? Or does it not fit your intention in asking this question?
