Women were relieved of any duties men could expect from a "real woman" with feminism. Now we are expected to buy the house and clean it too. On top of that if children are involved she can have hubby beeing removed anytime if he doesnt scrub hard enough at home after his shift. Why do men still have to be "real men" and do things like commit, take responsibility for a wife, although she doesnt really need alimony in the event of a break up because she can work now, beeing protective, defend the country when the $hit hits the fan (and Iam not talking about target practice with moving targets like in Iraq, Iam talking about all out war and draft), drown when there are not enough lifeboats. Why is it basically politically incorrect to expect a 50s wife who scrubs but men still have to be 50s men "real men", which should happily give up their life for a woman when only one of the 2 can be safed, as seen on Titanic, only that we have 2006 now.

You sound bitter and out of touch with what most woman expect from a man. I don't expect a man to work all day and clean the house too, I just expect that we share in the duties equally, no more and no less. Women are required the same burden of alimony as men now, and many countries that have compulsary military service (ie Israel) also draft women. And do you really think that when a boat sinks these days that the crew will be out there telling the men to let the women go first?
Also remember that the feminist movement is very diverse and although some definitely man-hating women exist, there are also a lot who respect men as being equal to women. What kind of women are you meeting who expect you to buy them a house without their financial contribution and then clean it all too? Does such a woman even exist?

honestly, I don't know what we need men for anyhow (just kidding!)
In my opinion, I think most people are still too used to the "old way" to realize that something HAS changed. That's why so many people still expect men to be "real men." But one thing, there hasn't been a draft in a LONG TIME. So, I don't know what the trouble is. And, maybe it's just me and living in NY may not help, but it seems to me that most guys are just as vulnerable as women.
And many men are selfish, I don't see where you're getting your sacrificing nature from. There are some men who are knights, "Prince Charmings," etc. and then then are players, and others still who are wife beaters. It depends on the character of each individual, the same goes for women!
I'm having a similar complex with being a woman. Why DO I have to have an outstanding career and then be willing to give it all up for a full time job at home? It seems like a waste of time and energy. But for now, I guess I just have to make the best of what I have and depend on myself.

A real man takes care of his woman and family. A real women takes care of her man.
Times have changed and not all women and all men have evolved in the right direction. But some have. Don't give up hope just pursue the best.
Some of the trash out there promote more trash. That is not what all men and women are like.
Hold yourself to a higher standard and a higher stander of people will pursue you.

Because most of the 50s wives work a 40 hr week , but it sounds like you are mostly mad about the army thing ?

There are a lot of real women , they just have jobs and do housework now ( and 75% of the taking care of his kids - men are still mostly derelict when it comes to kids, only a small % step up to the plate when it comes to taking the time needed for kids)

A " real man " takes his responsibilities on irrespective of what "real women" are doing. You just be a real man. Work hard, provide for your family, engage in no unjustified violence and be honorable in all your dealings with others. The rest will flow from that.
