I'm in the Army and I really I don't understand why "Americans" talk bad about there own country. I mean i'm sure Mexico has enough people leaving every day they'd be glad to make these people citizens.. hell even Canada is close enough too..
but in all seriousness every time i turn on the tv or computer some prick is talking bad about America. the majority of them are not educated on the facts and still want to talk down on us. There are thousands of American men and women overseas fighting and when they come home there pretty much spit on.
i'm not usually one to talk bad about the American government, but when are they gonna grow some balls in Washington and finish this war instead of holding back for every whimper and cry of those people who just want to complain about something?

ok , yes america was built on complaining about y government, thats what the people who wrote the constitution wanted is that freedom..it says we have the right to oppose it,but honestly that was when we were governed unfairly by a king and we had no representation in parliament. if we did , then im sure we'd still be part of england . But America is fair to people in general ..hell we even give welfare to illegal immigrants

I think part of it is that America in this generation is so prosperous and decadent that most Americans, the younger especially, have never experienced any true hardship. We haven't been without wealth, security, or freedom, and so don't ascribe any value to them, taking them for granted. The people who know what it means to lack those things obviously value them - they flock here in droves to get them, often risking their lives just to enter America.
The rest of it is the secularism and liberalism that comes in part from the affluence I just mentioned. We are embarrassed by our past, because of wrongs real and imagined, and by our traditional values, which are now unfashionable or ignorant to "the enlightened", this incredibly arrogant generation of elitists. Most of all, have cut loose from the moral anchor of the Christianity the nation was founded on and born from, we are morally adrift - relativism calls the shots when it comes to "right and wrong", and a lot of people honestly don't know the difference.
Instead of growing older and wiser, America is regressing into a spoiled teenager- a large segment of the culture thinks it knows everything, without the experience or maturity to make sound judgements, wants everything and doesn't appreciate what it has, exhibits knee-jerk reactions based on emotion or sentimentality rather than reason, and in general has an odd mixture of pride and self hatred - preening and strutting while making self-destructive choices.

I am US borne, I lived in Miami-Florida for seven years, before that, I lived in south America and recently move out of Florida for good to the UK, and now I look back to these past 7 years and even though I did my professional career there, I felt it was the 7 worst years of my live (social wise), because of this capitalistic systems I did not have many friends, everybody was busy, did not have a real girlfriend cause I did not have money to show and people saw me like I was a rat because I was poor “the more you have, the more you are” . And in the US, you can not pursued a university degree unless you come from a very wealthy family or live in debt for the rest of your life and if you become sick, you either have to have an insurance (very expensive if not paid by employer) or lived in debt for the rest of your live.
I think in the US, there is a culture to work but not culture to socialise with others, for example Drs see you as a number $ more than as a patient, i don’t want to generalise but i think the US system changes people into machines and blocks their mind form what is outside, most of the people I meet there, think that the US is the best country in every single way, without even visiting other countries, well I don’t blame then , with the little time off we had in Florida as listed on linked below, there is not time to visit any other countries,
Well, something else I realize when I was travelling Europe and south America, I noticed that most of Americans did not make any effort to a least speak the most common or used word in other languages and expect everybody to speak english as once a girl from Chicago told me “we are leaving the a globalisation world so everybody need to speak English”
In the other hand I think that economically wise US is great , my parents are doing financially very well so is my brother and most of the people I know, but unfortunately all the money they make and have, cant not even be enjoyed. I truly respect you opinion but I think that WE as “Americans” should see the world equally, change our minds, not because we are richest and have the economical power we have the right to abuse others and impose our system, ethics, morals as every country has their own and we should respect that.

You are still a little behind curve there, Skippy. Iraq was never winnable – not in any way that would produce a positive result for the US.
Read Bush’s father’s (ex-President Bush) 1998 book ‘A World Transformed’.
Regarding the invasion and occupation of Iraq, former President Bush explains in detail how we would:
1). End up in a quagmire,
2). Further destabilize the region,
3). Destroy America’s international reputation and political effectiveness,
4). Cost America its friends, and
5). Jeopardize America’s long term interests and goals in the region.
If Dubya had listened to his father in the first place, GHW Bush would not have had to send Jim Baker to Washington to clean up his worthless son’s mess. If Dubya had listened to his real (biological) father instead of his imaginary one that promised him glory in heaven, we would not be in this mess.

People will always bring up free speech and their rights. But do they ever stop to think about what that means? The people who are fighting for their rights are the people fighting the war. Our government may suck and you can say that all you want. But show some respect as well. We all live in this country, but I don't go around bashing our government over and over again. We are in Iraq, so deal with it. Stop talking about what should have been done and start talking about what it is. We are at war and all your protesting is not going to do anything. Show your support for our country and your respect for it and your rights.

You answered this quite well yourself. "..The majority of them are not educated on the facts..." I say to those who think they can...pick a better country! (Then move there and don't come whining back when you find out that it isn't better anywhere else!) (ok...Switzlerand does have some awesome chocolate....hmmmm)
Thank you for serving your country so that the citizens here can complain and whine without fear of death, imprisonment or reprisal!!!!
