I know one is for vet techs and the other one for vets, but why are the majors different?

Pre-Vet: Depending upon the university, typically a selection of courses that prepares you for vet. school. It is typically concentrates on the basic sciences you need to succed at vet school.

Animal health science is for vet techs and is typically a BS or Associates degree. It is usually heaver on applied classes, and is for people who know they want to work with animals

Animal Science is also a BS degree, but it is focused on more agricultural animal care.
