Laxer and Laxest just sound so wrong, and usually I go by the way it sounds on things like this. However, I looked it up, and this page http://www.bibliodata.com/lax.htm says that laxer and laxest is correct. Would more lax and most lax also be correct?

More lax and most lax sounds much better to me. (I'm an English teacher and grammar nerd.)

Lisa's parents are much more lax with rules than my parents are.

Laxer, more lax, laxest, most lax are all correct. Use whichever you prefer.
