knock and let him know! if that doesn't work, give a final warning and if it continues, file a report. i know that the cops are just going to give him a warning...they do baloney...all they gonna do is file a complaint...in which case your rapport with your neighbor will be sooo sour...its better not to involve the police and be direct...trust me on this one.

Personally, I'd probably be too afraid to tell a stranger to shut up, but if you know him, either ask him politely to be quiet, or tell him sternly that he needs to stop making noise. I had a neighbor and his girlfriend arguing out in front of my house at midnight before, and they wouldn't be quiet, but I couldn't do anything, since they were pretty angry and I didn't want to have my neighbor hate me.

call the cops? Throw ham at their house or make louder noise than he/she is

call in a noise complaint. if they keep it up, blare classical music. or make sex noises as loud as you can.
