I think it depends on the type of women. Some women like "chick" or "babe" 'cos its sexy and sassy. Some women can only be described as a "lady" because they have style and dignity.

I think some men should be more discerning in the way that they refer to females as it is very easy to come over as very badly-mannered.

I'm going out on a limb here and may be in trouble but here goes . I never call women a chick or a bird which is more commonly an english referal to a woman . And I don't feel this way towards women either but the term may be the result of men considering women " flighty " hence the name chick or bird. If this is the case many won't find it flattering . Below is websters online dictionary description of " flighty ".

1 : SWIFT
2 : lacking stability or steadiness: a : easily upset : VOLATILE b : easily excited : SKITTISH c : CAPRICIOUS, SILLY

Men always call women that? "Chick" isn't really that common anymore, and I've only heard "bird" in movies from like the 50's.

Did you just bust out of a time capsule?

Men are roosters women are hens. Chicks

I think it has someting to do with a single rooster having the priviledge of the whole hen house.

its a farm thing. Now men call women chicken heads cause they wont stop clucking.

Maybe both of you need to get beyond "my kids" and let them be "the kids" or "our family" and perhaps even "our kids" I couldn't do that in my relationship. It seems like in so many relationships, couples with kids from other relationships keep the kids as separate entities from the union they are currently in. I don't have the perfect answer, but I do know from experience and witness that the Kids pick up on all of this and quickly learn to manipulate each situation and eventually the entire relationship. Once the adults begin or carry on with the separation of "his kids", "her kids" or "my kids" the patterns begin and it becomes a vicious cycle of animosity and resentfulness. Try to get on the same page with each other and keep the communication open and don't point out faults. Just an opinion--good luck!
