We had caught a wild bull snake, no fangs, but teeth yes.
It was much darker, very different looking than a rattler. In AZ we had diamond backs, so their heads were a diamond shape rather than the round/oval shape of a bull snake.
I don't know about other parts of the country though.
but you know when we caught the bull snake (we kept it for a few days before releasing it back) he shaked his tail like a rattle - but it was definately a bull snake, not a rattler!!!

Most snakes have some type of fang-but yes bull snakes DO have them-and they are lighter in color than the rattlesnake, and less aggressive! A rattlesnake will hold it's position and strike if given the chance and a bull snake will try to escape from you if it's not threatened.

Rattlesnakes are pit vipers. They have the typical triangular head, and the deep pit between the eye and the nostril on each side. Rattlesnakes also have narrow vertical pupils while bullsnakes and most non-venomous snakes have round pupils. Bull snakes have teeth, as all snakes do, but not fangs.
