Hello, I think the most inexspensive and best way to build a house is to do it yourself. We are currently building a 4 bedroom home. We are paying 130,000 (we got a construction loan) for the hosue. It is going to be worth around 250,000. That is 120,000 in sweat equity right away. We are subing some stuff out such as... Carpet, cabinets, escavation- prepping lot, laminate, flooring, plumbing, and electrical.
If you do not have the knowledge to build your own I would put an add in the paper and ask if their is a contractor who would be willing to donate their time in just showing you how.. Iknow it osunds silly but it worked for us! Their is alot of generous ppl out their with kind hearts you just have to find them! That would be the most inexpensive way to build a home! Hiring a contractor costs so much! I hope this helps. We never thought that we would ever be able to do such a thing. Every one told us it wouldnt work. it will be done in may :) Good luck, and Take Care

Have you considered a Modular Home? I'm fairly sure that they must meet local codes as far as wind bearing strength, safety, accessibility, etc. and seem to be reasonably priced. A lot that I have seen do not even look like a modular home as they are faced with brick, have verandas and blend in with the older homes in the neighborhood.
Good Luck

Pre-fabricated house. All you need to do is find the appropriate land and choose the house. It comes in pieces which are assembled like a puzzle with a crane.

Make a floor plan and build it yourself! You can go to construction sites and recover materials they have thrown away. Hire an electrician to wire it and a plumber to plummet. Those two things have to be done right or else you'll have many headaches.

Alas, best and inexpensive are contradictory in home building.
That which survives storms & adverse weather isn't cheap.

Log cabin style. Basically just limbed trees with notches on each end to fit the next log.

Save your money and construct it one part at a time. or if you know contractor personally you could have them to do and just pay for the materials......it's many ways to go about doing that because it's who you know.

Build it yourself and hire some day laborers. They need the money and they do great work. They work really hard!
