get the xp codec pack, and i personally like realplayer 10 which i set as my default player, and u should have no problems no matter what media player u use. i use to have that same problem, expecially since most vids i got off limewire were AVI. anyways hope that helps. here is a link to take u to the download page for the xp codec pack.
http://www.xpcodecpack.com/
once this is installed u should have no problem using avi vids in any of your media players. that codec pack should also allow u to play most other vids as well. except mov. for some reason i can only play mov vids on quicktime for some dumb *** reason.

Use Windows Media Player. If it requires a codec, then download it. Usually it needs the divx codec. Go to divx.com and download it.

Or upgrade your WMP. If you have XP, install service pack 2 and it will allow you to install WMP version 11

Open the document by using my workstation>c>data and settings> your consumer account call>shared. (this is the place my limewire data are stored. i exploit xp homestead) as quickly as you detect the document you are able to open it with media participant (best click>open). in case you haven't any longer put in a codec %., even nevertheless, you will pay attention it yet no longer see it. Google divx codec andf acquire. it rather is freeware.
