While I don't think Boise State has the resume to be considered the national champion, I take much offense at everyone who considers their schedule "Division III" or "high school". The WAC isn't great, but it's not "Division III".
My alma mater, Nevada, came one late interception away from possibly upsetting five-time national champion Miami. That's hardly Division III stuff. Hawaii won a bowl game against a BCS conference team. That's hardly Division III stuff either. The WAC is still Division 1-A, and while it's not great, there's still some decent football played there.
Look at what happened when Florida played 1-AA Western Carolina late in the season... 62-0. Now, THAT'S disgraceful, playing a 1-AA school when you're in a BCS conference. But Florida also plays in the toughest conference, and won the SEC title game, so they deserved to play for the national title. And judging from their performance tonight, they deserve to WIN the national title.
to BigSlick60 - Oklahoma was "weak"? What planet do you live on? If OU hadn't lost that game at Oregon that they should have won, and if Adrian Peterson hadn't broken his collarbone, Oklahoma would have had title game possibilities. If not for the Oregon game, OU would have only had one loss (to Texas) and probably would have been ranked in the top 10 most of the season.

They may gain 2 in the pitiful BCS and possibly 3 in the AP. Until there is a playoff though we will never really know who the National Champion is. I give them credit though for going undefeated and finishing in the Top 10.

I agree they should be given some consideration.
They did go undefeated in the regular season, no matter how easy a schedule they had.
They beat everybody on their schedule, just like Ohio St. has done, at least till tonight soo far.
Thats why their should be a playoff system, a team with 1 loss possibly winning the National Chapionship, well its a tossup.

Sorry chief, they just did'nt play good enough opponents, Oklahoma was good but not a title contender, they weren'nt even a top 5 team. They should schedule tougher opponents, but no one wants to go up there and play them and there to chicken to go to USC or a Notre Dame and get beat. They will need to do that to get national respect,

Well, it's a false statement then. After the asskicking Florida is laying on Ohio State, any voter who votes for Boise State at #1 should never be allowed to vote again, especially after playing a schedule that would make a Division III team blush.

Bosie State beat a weak Oklahoma team and they think they have a team. Their are about 10 teams that would spank BSU.

BSU would beat Florida. Excuse me you SEC fans is Florida undefeated? Come on put the strength of schedule thing in there. You still have to win the games putting the Schedule in there is just a excuse. I also think Wisconsin would beat Florida!!

No, but they made a great argument about why the BCS sucks and a playoff is needed. I do believe they would have played better the the " Girl Scout Buckeyes" !!!!!!!!!!!

They have as much claim to the title, as anyone, if not more. Until there is a playoff, they have to be given due consideration.
