In our house, the rule is that the seat AND the lid must be kept down. That way no one can say it's not fair that they have to do more "work". lol. No, really, we keep them both down for two reasons:
#1- The toilet is just not the most attractive thing to look at. People put their butts in there.
#2- Sanitary reasons. When you flush, mist actually goes into the air in the bathroom. It WILL come into contact with things like your TOOTHBRUSH. Yuck!

You know, if the argument is that women "can't remember" to check if it's down in the middle of the night, and so are doomed to fall in the potty, I think we men ought to fight back with the same strategy. Let's start "forgetting" to check if the lid is down before letting fly. After sitting on urine a few times our ladies will probably start suggesting we leave the seat up.

I know we men have to defy gravity to lift the seat up from the down position. Just kidding ladies I keep the seat and lid down, bathroom looks cleaner that way.

Hmmmm. I never thought of that before. Maybe if I do my business with the toilet seat down I might not get feces and piss all over the floor after all. BRB

I dont care if the seat is up or down as long as its clean!
Pee drops on the dunny seat is wrong! and same goes for pee on the floor. Is it really that hard to aim?
you can leave the seat up as long as you dont miss the loo! haha

HAHA cause when we get up in the middle of the night and stumble into the bathroom to pee... and the seat is up... our butt lands in the cold water... not pleasant... therefore not pleasant for you when we get back to bed either!!! lol

Because it's a rather rude awakening when us girls sit down to use the bathroom and your rear end hits ice cold water. Not fun!

Because we leave it how we found it.
So our pets won't get into the toilet and drink the water.
Not everyone urinates standing up.

we keep the seat and the lid down because it is More sanitary that way....
