Why must we keep the toilet seat down ?

I wondered the same thing for years. But then I finally found the answer. It happened when my mother in law came over to visit. It was in the middle of the night, and it was dark. She didn't want to turn on the light. I had left the seat up. Without looking, she sat down, all the way down into the toilet.

That, my friend, is why we leave the seat down. They have a fear of sitting on the rim. So, at my house, just to be fair, we keep the lid closed too.

Because it has been scientifically determined that women are incapable of performing a complicated procedure including multiple tasks: turning head, looking down, moving seat to down position, sitting, all in that order. That's tough stuff.

And you can't leave the lid down either. If you leave the lid down a women will simply sit on it and urinate and deficate on it. She cannot discern that the lid is down. It's sad but true.

The solution is to leave the seat down and the lid up. AT ALL TIMES. Never lift that seat up. If your urine gets on the seat that's okay. If Women can't see a large toilet seat they won't be able to see a little urine on the toilet seat. Anything is preferable to the dangers of forcing women to have to follow complicated directions.
