I had a child at a young age. I dropped out of high school my sophomore year so I would have lots of time to spend with my daughter while I worked to get money in savings. Four years later I went back for my GED and I've been going to college, working, and being a mother ever since.
Going back to school and getting a degree has always been a big priority to me. I love my daughter more than anything I want her to have the best of everything. Why should she have to suffer just because mama made a bad decision before she was born? Kids are VERY expensive, it is impossible to raise a kid comfortably without an education. My child is going to have (and already does) everything that all the other kids have

I never had to do that, but there are options for you, if you're interested.

If you take a trip over to social services in your city (or town), you can apply for many things like wick, and financial assistance. They will also sympathize with the fact that you did not have a chance to finish school.

If you ask them, they will be able to give you some information on how you may finish your classes with adult education, maybe at night, and they may also have information about which companies offer employment with child care services.

You do not have to be alone in this...really. There are several state and local agencies who are ready and very willing to assist you to finish shool on you own time. If you can find access to a computer, most probably at the local library, if you do not have one of your own, you would be able to take those classes online. The community college I attended instituted a new program for people who did not get their diploma. They made it possible for non-highschool grads to finish their high school requirements while also taking their college classes.

Since you have this issue, the federal government offers Pell Grants which do not have to be repaid and you can take the classes online, in most cases. This way, getting someone to watch the baby all the time would be at a minimum, if at all, and you can go to the facility of your choice and do exactly what you need to do.

You won't be alone sweetie because around every corner there is hope.

Good luck and God bless you and your little one.

Um, I think you posted this in the wrong category, but ... I had a child very young and managed to finish high school, go to college, and get a good job (without a supportive family). There are a lot of programs out there to help young mothers continue their education. You need to plan long term to take care of yourself and child; that will take earning more than minimum wage. At the very least finish highschool and go through a certification program at a community college. Eventually you will find a way to continue college and be very successful. The best things are worth struggling through. Best wishes!

Well I was getting ready to say me than realized you meant high school. I dropped out of college with only one semester left and though it would be nice to have my degree, I do not regret my child at all. In the case of high school I would say get at least a GED, take night school or whatever you can to get you education

My momma dropped out when she had me. But she never got her GED, didn't need it. She's the highest paid waitress at the Hooters in our town, she's good at what she does. I'm glad she diddn't work when she was raising me. It made the two of us close.
