They get paid because we pay them. We pay for the entertainment ~ and that adds up to a lot of money. The government pays the other workers.

They are paid it because people are willing to pay to see them. I'd be less horrified about athletes and more about actors and so-called "musicians." At least athletes have to be among the very best in their chosen activity - whereas nobody sensible would say the actors and "musicians" who make the most money are the most talented or hardest-working.

Unfortunately, any scheme to limit how much they make would not be right either. Who am I to say how much a certain person should make? If somebody is willing to pay them that amount of money, who am I to say they can't?

That is truly one of the major flaws in the society of today's america. My father is a teacher, and one thing that I can't help noticing is that the people who get these illionares to where they are today are the people in the beginning who taught them their core values and fundamentals. It's just messed up. In my opinion the people who should be getting paid the most are the people making lives better for others (teachers, doctors, military, leaders)
