I think that since you were nice to her at her job (which most people aren't at fast food) she was the same in return. I also see people (usually my friends) doing that because they almost never get caught doing it and its a way for them to show their respect for that person. Even though it was only a dollar and some change, its more than nothing (which I bet is usually the case) which is why she treated you the way she did. I would have done that...

Its the unspoken rule of the common man; you help me out, i help you out.

Sounds like your dad was being a jerk and she was just trying to hold her own by joking around.

Why would your dad ask if he could have the special an hour early? Then he ask her to hold the sandwiches till after 5 to save a little money!

I would have said no to hold the sandwich, and no to giving you the special.

Why she gave you free drinks and extra meat. Maybe she is just a nice person that your dad was mean too. Maybe she felt threaten by all the males who came in to the store so she was trying to be extra nice. Maybe she thought one of you was cute.

A lot of things could play in that part.

But Maybe you should be nice to people who work in fast foods/restaurants/customer service.

Why do people always have to be out to get a good sale early when they know every thing is run by electronics and she could get in trouble for giving you guys a special early?

That is what you need to asking or seeking!

Well first of all some places do have a tip jar and if they didnt then she could probably get fired. I dont know why it would matter cause she hooked you guys up with free stuff and lots of meat. And she probably did that because she was expecting a good tip. So I think your dad should have gave her a better tip then a dollar and some change.

You should never ask for a tip. In fact, most fast food chains forbid that.
I really resent a lot of the places where tips are expected even if the service is poor. The restaurants should have to pay at least minimum wage like the rest of the world.
The word tip(s) originated as a reference "To Insure Prompt service." Certainly, not the attitude of most today!!

She wasn't supposed to ASK for it, but she did hook you up with extras at the company cost, not her's. I don't know what to think of this because she did hook you up, but she isn't supposed to ask for a tip, so I guess she got something good and you got something good. Just leave it at that.

Unfortunately wages these days are sooooo low that people do whatever it is they feel they need to do in order to make ends meet. It is unfortunate that people have to resort to these measures, but it just happens to be a fact of life these days. :o(

You asked her to break the rules set by her employer. If I were her, I would have just told you to get lost.
