I saw this dress at saks today that i would really like to wear to my friend's wedding. the dress is lacey, with black trimming at the bodice and is knee length. do you think it's inappropriate or is it ok since it has black trimming and the color is completely off-white?

I would say that if it has a decent amount of black trimming then it would be ok. Usually as etiquette goes you should steer clear of anything white/off-white. If she's a good friend...and you're doubting the choice enough to ask the question, I personally would find another dress.

I know the dress is sounds lovly, but out of respect for your friend you should not wear it to her wedding. While is does have black trim the near white color would be too close to her dress and take away from her.

Or just call up your friend and ask her!

It's better not to wear any dress that's mostly any color close to white because sometimes wedding dresses are off-white. I wouldn't wear the dress.

I think if you have to question it, you better not. Some brides get really offended by that kind of thing. Maybe if you are sure that her dress is white-white...

Sounds really cute, though.
