I take vitamin supplements for my ulcer.Tell him to stay away from the rolaids and alkaseltzer that is the worst thing he can do for his stomach. Most antacids contain aluminum.Avoid use of Aspirin and NSAIDS.Do not use milk to ease symptoms as this ultimatelystimulates more acid production.Explore fresh cabbage juicing to help heal stomach lining.Do not take HCI tablets. Consider juicing or blending foods/soft foods to give digestive system a chance to rest and heal mucosal lining.
These are the vitamin supplements that I take:
ALFALFA-provides digestive enzymes improving digestion and elimination alkalizing property has antacid effect.
OPTIFLORA CAPSULES AND OPTIFLORA POWDER
Helps with upset stomachs and controlling ulcer upset
and many other things

I don't know how you can get him to take antibiotics but maybe if he reads about ulcers you can convince him. A Nobel Peace prize was awarded in 2005 to the men that discovered that most ulcers can be cured with a short stint of antibiotics. Ask him why he would choose to continue to suffer when he could feel better in 7 days? Some things are worth trying homeopathic remedies and some aren't. This would be one for your local dr. I watched a neighbor die of an ulcer and it was a grotesque and awful thing.

No, nothing can help until he has the guts to find out what's causing it. How can you treat an unknown condition?
He might already think that it's cancer and be afraid to hear it. Sounds like he's trying desperately to ignore it. So it's now your responsibility - you are supposed to diagnose what is really wrong, and prescribe a painless old wives remedy that tastes great.
Yes, right. Except that no one can be responsible for another adult. It's up to him to consult a specialist. All you can do is to note what doesn't help, and do the exact opposite when you reach his age. He can't tell you about his symptoms - too embarrassing - is my guess. He's afraid that a doctor will tell him that it's fatal. So - eventually, you will eat rolaids and alkaseltzer like it's candy. And it won't help. It's probably only an ulcer. It's not what he thinks - his generation's greatest nightmare.
You could try what worked for my mother. I stopped taking her calls, and called her once a week to chat and then ask if she had consulted a doctor yet. If she said no, I said goodbye and hung up. If she lied and bluffed, I hung up. Finally - it took months - she did. We spent a lot of time over there, checking that she took the right tablets, refusing to be embarrassed by anything, annoying her about her diet. She is really grateful that I heard her. Now. Then, she hated me for treating her like a child! I ignored this and said "but you loved us when we were ill & bad-tempered. And you never once accepted that we deserved to go on feeling like that."
Even if she hated me now, she's still here and not in pain. Hey, what else can you do!?

Antibiotics, considering that the majority of ulcers are caused by H. Pylori bacteria.
Why let him suffer and waste time and money on things that will not work?
Please see an MD and get him evaluation and treatment. Hospital ER's or free/low cost clinics can not turn him away if he needs medical attention.
He will want to go when the pain becomes unbearable. Let him know what he needs to do.
Bleeding ulcers can be a medical emergency. If he has black stool, he needs to go to the ER. Period.
There is nothing wrong with seeing a doctor if you need medical care. It is stupid to suffer and/or put your life at risk.
P.S. You should not be taking NSAID's (used to treat pain). These can contribute to ulcers in some people. This includes aspirin and naproxen. Smoking should also be cut out. If you want to waste time and money on "natural cures" that more than likely will not work (come on, how can a BATH help an ulcer?!) as opposed to going to a free clinic to get proper treatment ASAP, then that is you choice.

I wrote how I cured mine... link below.
Quick answer: eat raw green cabbage and get DGL lozenges at your local health store.
Also keep in mind that somewhere around 85% of ulcers are caused by a bacteria that can be cured by a simple antibiotic.

i have an ulcer too - could he make just one tri- prevacid is my lifesaver and getting a perscription would totally help - otherwise - zantac helps a lot (a very similar pill) - it's available without a perscription...i've heard aloevera gel really helps, but never tried it myself...remind him that it's really important that he looks after it - if it bleeds he could die and the urgery needed would be much more expensive than a doctors visit - i hope he's feeling better soon!

Hi CJ
Here are some ideas on how to heal the issue.
Causes of Peptic Ulcer
In addition to bacterial and viral infections, peptic ulcer can also be caused by poor diet, food allergies, nutritional deficiencies, alcohol, smoking, and chronic stress. As mentioned above, various commonly used medications can also cause problems, especially asprin. In addition to aspirin, other NSAIDs linked to peptic ulcers include Advil, Clinoril, Feldene, Ibuprofen, Nalfon, Nuprin, Orudis, Oruvail, Relafen, and Tolectin. In severe cases of ulcer, internal bleeding can occur due to thinning of the lining of the stomach and/or intestines.
Quick Action Plan for Peptic Ulcer
1. Avoid all sugars, refined carbohydrates, sodas, milk and dairy products, processed foods, preservatives, artificial sweeteners (especially aspartame), corn syrup, alcohol, white bread and white flour products, pastries, and hydrogenated and trans-fatty oils, as well as all foods to which your are allergic.
2. Emphasize organic, fresh vegetables and non-citrus fruits, organic grains, as well as organic, free-range meats and poultry and wild-caught fish.
3. Drink plenty of pure, filtered water throughout the day.
4. Miso soup and strained vegetable broth, made from cooking down a variety of organic vegetables, are healing and easy to digest, making them especially valuable for any digestive problems.
5. To reduce symptoms, eat small meals throughout the day, rather than following the traditional three large meals per day routine.
6. Certain herbs have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help repair the lining of the stomach and intestines. The best herbs for this are Echinacea and goldenseal, aloe vera, cayenne pepper, chamomile, licorice root, and slippery elm.
7. Therapeutic juices include raw cabbage juice by itself, or mixed with either carrot or celery juice; raw potato juice; wheatgrass juice; carrot, spinach juice; carrot juice; carrot, beet cucumber.
8. Soothing baths two to five nights a week can help to relieve symptoms.
9. If you smoke, stop, and also avoid exposure to secondhand cigarette smoke. In addition, learn how to effectively cope with and manage stress.
10. If you are currently taking aspirin or other NSAIDs, consider replacing them with safer, more effective natural remedies.
11. Nutritional supplements include vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin C, and zinc, taken with a multivitamin/multimineral formula. Essential fatty acids, especial omega-3 oils, are also recommended, as are bismuth and the amino acid L-glutamine. Linseed oil can also be effective. It can be added to salads or over drizzled lightly steamed vegetables.
Herbal Medicine: Both Echinacea and goldenseal are useful for treating peptic ulcers because of their ability to improve immune function, as well as their anti-inflammatory properties, which can help repair the lining of the stomach and intestines. These herbs also have strong natural antibiotic properties, making them useful for dealing with bacterial infections that often cause peptic ulcer. Shiitake mushrooms can be helpful due to their antiviral properties, as can aloe vera, cayenne pepper, chamomile, licorice root, and slippery elm.
Other useful herbs include calendula, linden flower, marshmallow, meadowsweet, and valerian. Soothing herbal infusions include one part chamomile and two parts marshmallow root, or one part chamomile and one part linden flower or valerian (take one teaspoon three times a day).
Homeopathy: Useful homeopathic remedies include, Arsen alb., Acidum nit., Belladonna, Calendula, Hamamelis, Lachesis, Nux vomica, and Silicea.
Best of health to you
