People become to focused on life that they forget to live. They forget to be thankful for a morning with no traffic, for a hot shower, food on the table. They forget to let lose, to appreciate the feel of sand between their toes, the feel of rain on their face. Everyday things that we take for granted are some of life's smallest miracles that more often then not go unnoticed. I think if you start to appreciate all these small things you will find your life more fulfilling.

Drops of oil in a spoon makes me think of spilled oil or gas in puddles. Sure it's pollution, but its infinitely fascinating to watch the myriad of colors in all their layers and complex movements. So if I had to guess, without any context, I'd say the quote is about appreciating the magnificence of life, including obvious things like the view from Mt. Everest, but not forgetting the things people take for granted, even tiny things, like the beauty of a drop of oil in a spoon. Which I totally agree with.

I agree with this statment. The secret is to see all the marvels of the world however you need to be able to find the beauty within everything. Oil in a spoon would contain just as many interesting and beautful things as the the greatest of painters could ever create. In other words.

Happiness is just your point of viewing.

I think that what it is saying is to enjoy all that the world offers us and to not forget that it's all made up of small things.

For instance, when you're eating a bowl of soup. you get the overall taste and texture, but forget to taste the elements individually as you gulp it down. Most people eat too quickly to truly enjoy and digest food properly.

In a bit of soup in your spoon, you may have some chickpeas, rice, onion and a bit of salt, spice and olive oil. The oil is important, but many forget that the fat helps carry the flavour. You don't want to overlook the basics, while enjoying the beauty of all things, visual, audio, kinesthetic or taste wise.

Blessings,
Rani

I'm confussed, I think I had it right up to the point where it mentions a drop of oil in the spoon. Now I'm not even sure I understood the first part. But this, maybe because of my lack of understanding, doesn't make me feel anything. It just sounds to me like someone trying to be clever. But then, I was automatically disinterested in it just from the first four words. If I did understand it, I think I'd still feel cold to it because of this.

Yep, it's exactly what I need to learn to do, but can't explain.
Focus on the good things. All the negatives need our attention, but we get lost in them and oh, forget life altogether it sucks.
Hold onto the good things; they pull us through.

But the oil in the spoon thing seems to be a bit odd, like some personal reference or a reference that requires an understanding of the time and place in which the author wrote.
