Mary had a little lamb because she was a child in new of a pet and a companion. Her parents gave her lamb so that Mary would have that companion and also so that the family could shave it and get wool in order to make clothes. The parents killed two birds with one stone by investing in that lamb. Smart people.

Mary's brother was a shephard living in a far away country. He had nothing to send Mary for her birthday so he shipped her a little lamb. Mary couldn't bear to leave the lamb at home, so she took him to school. (His name was Crayola. The lamb accidentally invented crayons, making Mary a millionare later on in life.)

because her evil twin sister Jane wanted one really bad for christmas. The dad didn't like Jane as much as he did Mary and he knew that thats what Jane wanted, a little lamb. He remembered that Jane told on him to his wife that she had seen dad kiss santa clause one christmas eve and he wanted to get back at jane for getting him in trouble, so he got mary the little lamb for her birthday. and he gave jane a glass of water and told her to choke on it.
