Leonardo was a genius because his scope of interests was so broad: he worked on anatomy, engineering, sculpture, painting, botanics, etc
his most famous works would probably be:
1) definitely the Mona Lisa
2) hum, i'd say the Last Supper, although it is debatable.

Laurie Schneider Adams' "A History of Western Art" sites : Leonardo da Vinci "The Last Supper" as his "single most important mature work". She also sites his other readily recognised work as: " Mona Lisa". Most Intriguing, her article opens with: "Embryo in the Womb' a pen and ink showing the "...synthesis of art and science." Obviously she intends emphasise this paradine of Renaissance thought. Surprisingly She makes no mention of Leonardo's other note book drawings of engineering marvels perhaps she is reviling a personal preference for the human form in art.
