This may be a confusing question. Is it possible to have zero communication. Communication doesn't have to be speaking, it can be emotions, the way you look at someone, or other expressions.

Death, being in a coma, theres still communication with another person. And being nonexistent would just defeat the purpose of the question. Its a question asked in my speech class for college for extra credit, the closest thing anyone could come up with if time stopped but i found it to be a really stupid idea cuz its not realistic enough

well, think of the basic requirements of communication first: sender, reciever, medium and message

The answer to your question depends on your definition of communication (e.g., are you including interpersonal communications between humans only? ); and also what perspective are you taking: the sender or the reciever?

being the sender in the absence of other human beings (i.e., with no recievers) or having a reciever that cannot percieve the message at all (i.e., the medium being totally inappropriate for the reciever; e.g., a blind person with a visual message) there would be no communication. However, since humans have a variety of senses i would assume that human-to-human communication would exist WHENEVER A SENDER AND A RECIEVER EXIST WITHIN PROXIMITY OF ONE ANOTHER (e.g., visual).

But if you are taking the perspective of the reciever (i.e., thinking of communication toward you) and you are including non-humans, there would always be AT LEAST one way communication from the surrounding environment to you, even if you are in an empty dessert.

I don't think 0 communication is possible. We may not be able to see it but, we are always communicating. Even if we are refusing to talk or look at another person we are still communicating.

O communication equals lack of communication and get one no where. Now other expression that you speak of can signal wrong vibes for a person. So real communication is a must.

It could depend on who your potential communicators are. People who are not aware of each other are not communicating, especially if what they do or communicate to others don't reach the other person.

Maybe if you're in a coma?
