Why do you have to have a favorite? What kind of world would it be if there was just one kind of tree, one kind of flower, one kind of fruit or nut? Are wild flowers more exciting becasue the are wild and only last for a few days? Are orchids more desireable because they are rare in our part of the world. Jasmine is one of the most exotic scents I have ever smelled, but many people are allergic to them. Do wild roses charm because they are natural, or do the huge, heavily scented, multi-bloom hybrids take the honors. Nursery grown poinsettia and cyclamen are breathtaking and make a season special. Cherry and apple blossom are flowers that only last a few days but will delight your eyes. Have you ever walked through an orange grove at night when it is in full bloom. Nothing on earth smells better. And each tiny flower looks like it is carved out of snow white marble. How about a 9 foot tall plant with a hugh sunflower on top. Awesome!
A field of California poppies glow like the sun and their delicacy is heartbreaking.
I love getting right down into a flower, inhaling the fragrance and seeing the colors and textures. One of the most beautiful flowers I have is on a hard, green, stickery cactus and it blooms once a year. The flowers open for one day and then die and the rest of the year nothing happens. But to look down into the center of a bloom, and they are about 6" across when they are open, is like looking into a tiny universe of pure color. I envy the bees who can crawl down inside for the tiny drop of nectur.
My favorite flower is any flower I see.

I love lilacs, too. I have a beautiful dark purple one that has white edges around the blooms. Fortunately they grow well in our terrible clay and hard pan soil.
My granddaughter was born when the lilacs were in bloom and we call her The Lilac Princess. Every year we have her picture taken with the lilacs.
