N.A.S.A recently discovered an ancient sunken limestone bridge, it spanned the waters between India and Sri.lanka. According to Hindu texts , this bridge was built over a hundred and fifty thousand years ago, proving that cultures existed that are far older, than what we previously thought possible, if their estimates are correct, then I would say there is a strong possibilty that Atlantis did exist.

I don't believe that Atlantis ever existed, but it's a nice story. It would change our whole way of thinking if a city of Atlkantis had existed. It would mean that the 21st century isn't the most technologically advanced era. I think that's what I like about Atlantis most. The idea that people have lost some very advanced technology. There are also some stories about Alanteans being able to read minds. That's cool too.

I believe that more research should be done into Thera, a Greek island with a lot of history. It once hosted a magnificent, progressive, artistic and interesting civilization, not one bent on war but on peace, with great ships and sailing skills.

They were destroyed by an earthquake that led to great floods. It is relatively close in legend to Atlantis, allowing for realistic adaptations by archaeologists and historical researchers. I have no idea why they keep saying that archaeology, classical studies and history don't matter.

You do need a Master's or Ph.D. but that is a matter of commitment, time and expense, so it's not for everyone. History will always matter, unless you only care about Paris Hilton. I can laugh off Jessica Simpson and Tara Reid, but I am getting tired of peroxide blondes.

I think it's possible they had some weather conditions that caused the part of the area around Greece (Called Atlantis) to fall into the ocean. I think it's possible a crater could opened up on the oceans floor and swallowed the whole thing. Anything is possible.

I think it's probably true because too many people talk about it. Gossip stems partly from fact, so I think it is likely that it existed.

This is the fragmentary dialog of Plato which contains the only known ancient account of Atlantis. If you have only read out-of-context excerpts, you should read this short document in its entirety and make up your own mind whether Plato meant the tale literally or as part of an allegory about an ideal society (as Critias implies early on in the dialog, refer to: "All that is said by any of us can only be imitation and representation.").

These books, which appeared in a very short span of time during the 19th century, are the core texts of the modern Atlantis mythos.

I believe that Atlantis was based on an island in the Mediterranean (now called Santorini) that was destroyed by volcanic activity before Homer and Jesus existed. I dont have a date. Stories can snowball.

Opinion is no. I mean yeah the idea of an underwater city is amazing and really cool. I would love to live underwater. But if Atlantis was real, why couldn't it be around today? with all the technology we have, I'm sure they could come up with a way to live underwater.

why not

anything is possible

and with the given recorded "losses of land" such as port royal due to the geological reasons it is possible there was an atlantis that sunk.

not agreeing there was or was nnot just leaving room for posibilities

Well, a philosopher from those times did write about it. But did he really see it for himself? No one will know.

For me, I believe that it was just some island that is still in existence today and was just part of the huge empire that ruled back then and all they did was be stupid and drown from a small flood.
