This is going to sound so out there but last night I dreamt that my father committed suicide by hanging himself from the rafters in my garage. My father is not depressed at all nor am I. The craziest thing about this dream was that for the first time I can remember, I dreamed in black and white. Does anyone know how to interpret this?

Only you can actually interpret your dream by taking an assessment of your activity. Other my try but will always fail, because every time you remember a piece of information, it will change the entire meaning of your dream. What did you do in the last week? What was your mind on? What did you encounter that might’ve manifested that dream? Why was it in black and white, was it something you saw or heard? Once you can back track your thoughts and actions, it will be clear as to how that dream might’ve came about. Try keeping a dream log. Write down every dream that you have and date it. It is said that when you dream you go to a different reality. For some, it can also be a way of foreseeing something or even remembering a past event. Dig and you’ll find. Last night I had a very strange dream about an alien planet – two nights ago, I had just completed a sci fi book about an alien race.

There have been cases of precognitive dreaming, where events in a dream unfold in real life. But in almost all of those cases, there were subtle clues that the subconscious mind picked up and connected, but the conscious mind missed. But dreams are most often expressions of our unconscious thoughts, perceptions, and emotions. It may be nothing more than a momentary reflection that your father will some day die, and you may fear some horrible death. Maybe suicide is the most horrible death you can imagine for someone you trust, respect, and love. On the other hand, you may have some vague idea that your father is unhappy in some way, or engaging in some behavior that could be self-destructive, and you fear that you could eventually lose him. If you ordinarily dream in color, then dreaming in black and white could be a judgement of right and wrong. Try to remember if you were angry, sad, or frightened in your dream. Keep this in mind: It is very popular now to believe that your dreams are trying to tell you something, but sometimes, a dream is just a dream, a random collection of random thoughts, crammed together and spit out as the collective garbage of the day.

Two thigns.

First, you are dreaming of somone committing suicide. That is your dream and eventhough you said you and your father are not depressed, that dream has some hidden meaning into it.

Suicide = give up.
black and white = clarify, past, not important

Dreams has many symbols. In your case, you probably feel that there are something in your family that something has been given up either by you or your father. You do not feel right and giving up life or suicide is a way your subconscious mind projects. Another meang for this is guilt conscience. It does not have to be depressed to have guilt conscience. This guilt conscience is coming out from you. You probably feel insecure and feel like something is hopless subconscioiusly and some guilt conscience of yours showed up in yoru dream

Second, Black and white can signify things are needed to be clearified. Normally we dream, we pay attention to the content rather than the color itself. However, if you see or remember the color particularly, that means somethnig have to do with the color. In your case, black and white means clearify, past, not important. Put them together, it may mean you have something you feel that it is no longer important but you believed that you gave it up on either yourself or your family and you feel guilty about it.

I guess more or less it has something to do with your family. Unless you watched some horror movies lately, or that will probably means that in your dream

Dreams don't mean anything. They are just random thoughts going on to keep your brain going while the rest of you is asleep. What you saw was just random images, maybe you saw a movie or were thinking about sadaam being hung and at the ssamw time thinking about your dad. It could be anything but definitely means nothing.

It could be that you have some anxiety about authority, or authority figures. Maybe there's something going on in your life that is a bold new thing for you but at some level you have some worries about it.

from what i've seen in dream sites, someone dying means that they're losing a part of themselves, so i guess to you, your father's lost a part of himself and since you dreamed in black and white, that means there were no frills, no pretty distractions, it just happened.

Someone told me a long time ago that dreams of death mean change. Maybe your dad is changing his relationship with you or your family?
