I can't sleep!! I get moderate exersize during the day (Maybe not as much as I should be getting but its not like I don't at all), I always eat really healthy, balanced meals. (For dinner tonight I had chicken and rice with salad. I drank milk.) I am out in the sun about 30 minutes a day. And when I try to go to sleep, I can't. If there's something on my mind, I'll write it in my journal and that gets it out so I don't think about it anymore. Then I'll just lie there, not thinking about anything. And I can't sleep. I'll stay up until like 12 or 1 just sitting there. I've tried reading. Doesn't help. It's just so frustrating!! I have to wake up at 6 in the morning. But still, when it comes for bedtime, I can't sleep. I lie there, tired as hell, wanting to sleep, but I can't. And then I can't concentrate during school so now my grades are starting to fall. I tell my mom I can't sleep, but she tells me to go to bed earlier, and I tell her what I just typed, but she doesn't really get it

you seem to be over stimulated try getting a routine like first take a hot bath then drink some hot tea while you write in your journal then put on some enya or calming music and just relax. my sister listens to the titanic sound track to fall a sleep and now she gets tired every time she hears it.

Believe it or not, changes in sleep patterns are normal at the onset of puberty. A chemical imbalance in the pituitary gland triggers the brain to keep you up later at night and sleep longer in the morning. Please know that you are going to 'grow out of it.' First and foremost is to keep up with good sleep hygiene. By that, I mean to go to bed at the same time every night and try to get up at the same time each morning. Even on the weekends. Avoid stimulating beverages at least 4-5 hours before bed. Don't read, study or listen to music in bed. I would strongly recommend that you avoid using any sleep aids unless they are prescribed by a physician. Try warm milk with a little honey for flavoring. It always worked for my grandmother. If doing all this doesn't help in a couple of months, see a doctor that specializes in Sleep Medicine.

What you and your mom need to know is the possible reasons for insomnia, which is what you're suffering from. Things like depression, anxiety, stress can cause insomnia. Maybe if you can bring up a website that can explain all of this to you and your mom, she may be more apt to listen to you.
If not, is there a school counselor you can talk to?
Please keep talking and asking your mom for help. Insomnia is very serious. Go to "emedicine.com" and look at insomnia.

Sounds to me like you have anxiety. Which may or may not be caused by stress. Could be you just have a lot on your plate these days..This can be taken care of by a quick trip to the doctor who may prescribe a mild sleep aid, which in time can be weened off of...

you probably have Insomnia, you should talk to your doctor about it, and see if they can prescribe you some medicine to help you sleep better.
