I see my customers at Macy's carrying cute little travel sized dogs around all the time and I never got a chance to ask any of them what breeds they were, if they get along with other animals, etc. I've wanted one for awhile now.

Breed doesn't matter - the animal's individual personality matters. Go to a shelter, ask them for a small dog tested for behavior around cats. But remember . . . a dog is not a fad or an accessory. A dog is a living, breathing, needy animal and a lifelong responsibility.

Chihuahuas (short hair and long hair) are very popular at least in warm climates. Yorkshire terriers are also very small, and toy poodles. I'm not sure how a yorkie would be as a travel size pet.
Virtually any dog can get along with cats once they get used to each other. These dogs are smaller than cats, but they can take care of themselves. They will probably become friends with the cats.
I see a lot of chihuahua mixes too; I see perfectly nice looking tiny dogs in the animal shelter.

It may be Yorkshire Terriers (Yorkies) that you are seeing or maybe Chihuahuas. They are both very small and people like to carry them around.
However, I don't know of a special breed that gets along with cats. I think that would be more a matter of how they are introduced to one another and maybe time.

Hard question... it really depends on your dog's personality. Dachsunds are very kind and small dogs, "the hot dogs". Chihuahuas are also small, but can on occasion get a bit frisky. Whatever you do, never pick golden retrievers, pitbulls, bulldogs, or beagles. They have a reputation to mistake the cat for a prey, and it's not pretty. Good luck.

Most often they are carrying either Chihuahuas or Yorkshire Terriers...they're killing their dogs by carrying them everywhere though, dogs NEED to exercise and walk daily. Keeping them pent up in a little pink shoulder bag is asking for joint and muscle issues later in the dogs' life. Buy a leash and collar, and let the dog WALK.

Anything in the toy type breeds. Stay AWAY from teacups. They're clinical nightmares from what I hear. And I really hope you don't intend to carry the dog EVERYWHERE, just the places where dogs shouldn't be walking, right?

maximum dogs breeders won't recomend having 2 doggies on the comparable time. this is becasue the dogs learns to bond with the different dogs better than you. additionally you will desire to think of roughly training and its annoying to coach 2 dogs at one time. i could concentration on your pit bull authentic now and in a 365 days than upload yet another doggy. Any dogs will do properly as long as you socialize your pit bull corectly and bear in mind that they do have a tendency to play tough so while finding out on a small breed you will desire to ascertain that its a breed that could handle this tough play.

Get a Yorkie or a papillion (pronounced papyon). These would be your best bet. Both breeds are really small and very docile as far as their personality. They are very delicate though,so don't have them around young children that could accidentally hurt them. Good luck!
