She comes home crying because she gets picked on. She has ADD and goes to a tutor during some of her classes. Should I talk to the parent of the bully, I don't want to take her out of the classes, because they help her.

Talk to the school and let them handle it.

I have a daughter that had a little boy that picked on her continuously when she was in 4th grade. I went to the teacher first. Then after that got me no where I went to the principal. That didn't do anything either. One day he punched her in the face and after I ripped the principal a new one I went to his house. I told his mom that the next time he so much as breathed in the same direction as my daughter that I would stomp HER @ss!

I would suggest going to the parents first. Be polite but let them know that you are standing firm and that the bullying needs to stop!

I felt kinda bad for going off the way I did because the mom was clueless about any of it! The school had never contacted her.

Also go to the school. Make it clear to them what your expectations are. Good Luck!

Talking to the parent is an option, and quite a good one but you might also try talking to the teacher and/or principal about the issue. Whatever you do, don't take her out of the classes if they are helping.

Well definitely dont talk to school yet because ,i'm sure the parent would appreciate it if you let them know versus ,they are called in by princible or teacher and already they think you caused problems for them, without cursing or hatered in return, just be a very profesional parent not cursing or threats ,just tell the parent in private without the kids so ,as to not stir hatred between them as well, i believe saving them a trip to school for counseling is better than you not just being honest and open and saving everyone hardache ... parents need to work together and not against each other ,because in reality the shcools dont have your back or best intrest at heart, only the parents do , officials only dictate wut is given to them by the government

Talk to the teacher and principal first. That may take care of it, but if it doesn't, yes, go to the parents of the bully. Whatever you do, don't ignore it. Bullies do not go away.

I would talk to the teacher first. Let him/her call the parent.

Just a story this reminded me of: I remember that a girl picked on my younger brothers in school and they would come home upset because they weren't allowed to hit girls back. One day my youngest brother came in and told me that she was outside so I (better than a parent) went out there and put my finger in her face and told her that if she ever touched either of my brothers again she would have to deal with me. :) I was older. Needless to say, she never bothered them again. Does she have an older sibling? LOL

talk to her teacher and have a meeting w/ both teacher and bully's parent also read up on how to deal w/ bullies there are some great books that way you can get her to open up to you and help her build her confidence -its VERY IMPORTANT that she doesn't feel like its her fault a bully is the one w/ low self esteem but they also continue the vicious circle

Yes, something needs to be done, if the parent doesn't help go to the principle. I have a special needs kid and I would kick butt if she was being bullied, I have in the past. Protect your child.

If worse comes to worse because the parent is like the kid, take them to court, do not put up with this junk.
