first try washing your hands really good before picking her up..if you have ate food and she smells this on your hand that might be causing her to bite....

But there could be another reason...if you have had her awhile and she didn't bite before...she may have went into a change..I notice females has a tendency to become more territorial and nippy when they become old enough to breed....and this happens when they are really young....(I don't recommend getting a male this will not help and you will end up with many little ones)

now, I am going to give you some advice that others will probably disagree with....and this is like a last resort type of thing..when you try everything you can think of and nothing has made her quit bitting and you get tired of being bit and you get to the point of throwing in the towel...you can try this....

First, this method is mine..I didn't get this from a book ..or an expert on the subject ..so you may not want to use it.....I had hamster for over ten years...and people in my area seem to think I was somekind of shelter for hamsters..for some reason..probably because I never turned one away...I could just see these people setting them free and them being eaten by cats,dogs,birds..or freezing to death..etc.....so, when they had hamsters that they deem mean and they didn't want to fool with them anymore..they would bring to me.young ,small, old, pregnant
and all prone to bitting.....9 times out of 10 I could get them to stop by using the same method you use for a puppy to get them to stop bitting....when I went to pick them up I would use both hands one out front as a diversion and than the other to pick them up...when they started to bite my hand that was around them I would take my other hand and tap them on the nose or head than I would say "no" in a fierce voice...by a tap...I don't mean a hit or smack....just a two finger tap with just enough pressure to get their attention (very lightly because they are so small ..your just trying to divert their attention from biting you...it is not to hurt them or punish them ..the "no" in a kind of loud mean voice is the main thing..their hearing is sensative and they don't like loud noises ).....and each time they tried to bit I would repeat this...until the quit....and once I had them in my hand I didn't put them back down even if they bit me over and over...they will eventually quit.....like I said this should be used as a last resort ....most of the hamsters I ended up with they were older and really hadn't been handled much.. they were more wild than tame...I tried to tame them down with the hopes their owners would take them back or I could find other homes for them.....at one time I had over 30 running around....all the cages it was a constant mess to clean.....don't get me wrong ,I really like these little guys...but to many is to many......

please don't give up on your little girl...and if worse come to worse use the method I discribed...it really did work for many of the hamsters that ended up in my care..........

You just have to handle her and let her bite you until she gets used to the handling. After a while, she won't bite anymore. If you can stand that. I couldn't.
