Are you under investigation for something? You need to hide the evidence? Throw the whole computer in the ocean! HURRY!

Sounds like you want a complete job. Get a wipe program. BCWipe is good, because it can be used to clear individual programs, and your windows slack space. Newer versions can be used to wipe the entire drives. If you have 2 drives, you can wipe the second, do an interim windows install on the clean drive and wipe the first. Use the DOD spec for wiping, not a one pass. This whole process can take several days.

If you are more knowledgeable of history storage, don't have severe virus infestation, and want a clean install, you can wipe individual user storage directories and files, clear the various histories, and then wipe the slack space. Before the slack space wipe you could also erase all your installed programs. A program like easycleaner will help deleting the remnants that remain from some program uninstalls. [Note: easycleaner can also help automatically clean out history files, but use BCWipe to wipe the slack space.] After these steps, remove all the partitions from the drives, repartition, and do a complete format.

Just to let you know you cant destroy it. You can format it tons of times but the government can take your hard drive and get any information from it. The only way to really "destroy" evidence on your hard drive is to destroy the hard drive itself by doing something like poking a hole in it a few times and letting it sit in a bowl of salt water for awhile. Trust me I am going to school for it. You cant destroy anything on your hard drive it stays on there for good. Format cleans it up pretty good tho and no iTunes wont be a ***** its really easy if you just download it from there site. Real easy.

To get your computer back to looking like new, do "a system recovery" These instructions, will clean everything off of your hard drive, so you must back up anything that you want to save. I have done this three times, and I got these instructions, from a computer tech. When starting your computer, tap the F-10 key. click on next-yes-and follow the instructions, that come up on your screen. When you are finished, your computer, will look just like it did, when you first bought it.Do these steps, in order, when finished.
1. set up windows firewall, in control panel
2. windows update (click express)
3. install your anti-virus program (update)
4. install anti-spyware (update)

this can be more effective complicated then basically operating "format C:" as all of us has suggested you. Did you get a fix CD once you got this laptop? Many OEM producers do no longer supply CD Media for homestead windows Vista, instead utilising a shadowed partition of the not hassle-free rigidity to obfuscate the setting up media straight away on the rigidity. operating "format C:" would damage your ability to reinstall Vista if it truly is real. try urgent F11 for the duration of boot up and be conscious in case you get to a Vista setting up reveal screen, then stick with the academic to do a sparkling installation. If this isn't significant to you, then I oftentimes advise utilising a Ubuntu LiveCD and dealing the command "dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sda bs=1M" to thoroughly erase the not hassle-free rigidity and overwrite the options with random documents to evade it from being restored.

Do and unconditional format or destroy the partition then recreate it then reinstall windows.. Many quik formats can be unformatted and data can be recovered if thats what you are worried about.

STOP SCREAMING!!!!11!!!!1!!!!1111!!!!

OK, now that we have that out of our systems, we can talk like normal people, can't we? It looks like you want to reformat, so you need to put the Windows CD in and when it asks you which partition to install it on, just delete them all and then hit enter. It will ask you what filesystem you want, and you should choose NTFS. You're good to go!
