My dear sometimes it's hard for parents to understand us, i think you should only talk to him and let him know what you want and make sure, as you don't live with your mum, im sure he would want you happiness, tell him that the only think that would make you happy. also think first is it what you really what? if it is true that cats or pets do have alergies, don't you think your father is protecting you?

Well if your family has allergies it is very understandable that they won't allow a cat in the house, because they would be miserable all the time from the added irritation. I would say, why not try and go for something without fur. Fish are always an easy starter pet for anyone, and not very expensive either. There are also all kinds of reptiles- frogs, lizards, snakes that can make good pets as well. Just make sure you do some research before you go to your parents. If you decide you want turtle, find out what they eat, what you will need to take care of it, how long they live, will it be a good fit for your life style, and so forth. If you go to them with some back round information this may help in showing them that you can be a responsible pet owner.

First you need to show your Dad that you are responsible enough to have a pet. Maybe try something like some inexpensive fish and work your way up to a cat or dog also do some research on animals and the care that they require and needs that they have. Also talk to your Dad about how lonely you are and how happy a furry friend would make you. Good-luck I hope you get your pet, some of the best friends I've had have had fur:)

Maybe he is alergic to furry animals? Most pets don't have allergies, but the people around them do and that's the problem.
Try for an outside cat or something without fur *chinchillas are actually OK though, hypoallergenic* If not, grow up, move out, and have all the pets your heart desires.
Or maybe he feels you are not mature enough to take on the responsibility and doesn't want it left to him? Prove him wrong.
There's allways the "He followed me home, can I keep him?" line. Works more offten than you'd think.

I hate it when parents are like that, but fortunately I've always had mom on my side. ( I kept a donkey that followed me home) Animals have allergies that affect humans but not themselves, and a short-haired gray cat would be great. make a point in stating Cats are very clean animals, and they don't need attention 24/7 like a dog, and are fine being left home alone all day! you'd care for it everyday, clean the litter pan everyday, feed water, and vaccinations. Ask him to take you to the shelter and show him how many cats need homes and if they don't find homes they are killed. he will walk around, see those sad faces, and hopefully it will break his heart. Look up a bunch of info on cats and print it out and show it to your dad. Prove you can be reasponsible for a cat. Plus they aren't noisy and bark in the middle of the night like dogs!

seriously, what reaasons does Dad give for not wanting a pet? If you are both out all day, then that is a good reason not to have a pet - cats and dogs need company as much as food and water, you know! Even birds need company - parrots are incrediably intelligent and need training and companionship, as they have the mentality of a 3 year old child. You cannot leave them alone all day. They take money too - you have to be able to afford them.

You need to visit some animal shelter and show your love for the cats there initially in 0rder to satisfy your personal preferences.May be after some time you can convince your father about this issue.
You could also try referring to your father some websites which give out information on cats and the love which they bring along .May be he might get convinced.Iam a cat Lover myself and wish you the best.

One kiddy thing you can do is to maintain a pet secretly at ur home. Then ur wish will be fulfilled as well. And finally u can tell u dad after many days that u were with the pet for a long time but still did not develop any allergy from it.By this practical way he will get convinced that u can bring up pets.good luck.

Maybe if you can agree to get a small animal first like a parakeet or a mouse, you can prove to your dad that you can care for an animal by yourself. As for the allergies, maybe you can find a cat that doesn't shed a lot so you and your dad can both put up with it.

I know it's hard, when I was young I wanted a cat sooooo much but we weren't able to have one. Please don't cry and try to be patient. When you're old enough to be out on your own, you can have as many gray cats as you want. In the meantime, stuffed animals are nice to pretend. That' what I did when I was young. I now have 3 cats, 1 dog and 3 horses, my patience paid off big time!

I have allergies too, so my mom bought a Maltese (dog). They do not aggravate allergies. Most people are allergic to dogs' dander, and bathing them frequently usually helps with that. If you really want a cat, try a Sphynx. They even come in gray! Due to their lack of fur those who have them do not usually have an allergic reaction.
If you have more questions about them, feel free to send me a message. I hope I helped!
