I'm closer to my mom because since I was young dad is in another country, so how can I be close to him, but since when my mother died ofcourse my father went home but I still cannot say that I am close to my father for now because there is still lacking with him, it seems like he's not my father

I used to be closer to Mom, but she had a stroke and stays very confused now about everything. She thinks she's 20 and that my dad is going to marry her on Christmas (Christmas never comes) and she spends her quiet moments planning the wedding. She also thinks I'm her sister. I've gotten to be closer with Dad since her stroke, though, and I love both my parents very much.

o.k it's a bit of a "duh"! theory but i think that you are closest to the one parent who spends the most time with you or that you take all the sayings from. Another theory is that you are closer to the one parent that is the same gender as yourself, e.g. if you are a male you should be closer to your father.
