Baseball was the most popular sport. Some of the stars in the 30's include Jimmie Foxx, Lou Gehrig, Dizzy Dean, Mel Ott, Joe DiMaggio, Bob Feller, Hank Greenberg, Lefty Grove, and Babe Ruth.

You should search on 1936 Berlin Olympics or Jesse Owens.
