i want to try out for my school's soccer team. and conditioning starts wednesday. and i've done soccer before, and i don't consider myself that bad, but i'm just afraid of trying out because i'd look like a loser if i got cut in the first scrimage.

the thing is...i know i could be really good if i tried...but i'm just always holding back. even my friend said that i don't try. which really makes me MORE nervous, because this is with my school, not just with the city. it's just i'm afraid of going all out, because i'd probably mess up anyways and look like a dork. so please give me advice. and not mom advice like "you can do it. believe in yourself" :) thanks.

Well, don't be afraid to try out for anything. If this is what you really want, then go for it, give it your all. Have you ever seen the movie called "RUDY". It's an old movie but my coach showed me this movie once and I never gave up. Making it or not it's not a big deal, having fun is important. Don't worry what people think, be yourself and stay positive. Good luck! I know you can do it.

Give it your all and try to practice lots before tryouts. If you screw up then get right back on your feet and pretend you ment to do what you did. I am on the a national team now that trevels around the world and i didn't get there by worrying what people thought about me! i got to where i am today by practicing everyday and knowing what to expect.
Good luck and remember to practice a lot! I hope you make the team!

Just give it a try. what are you going to lose, honestly? Why are you so worried about what others think of you? Just go and give it your best shot, and if you don't get in, then who cares? Simply keep working at improving then try out next season. You never know, you might just get in. And, in a brief moment of mom-ness, let me just quote here : "nothing ventured, nothing gained". Give it a shot and see what happens- forget about what your friend tells you and just do it! Good Luck!!! :)

don't worry about what other people think. go out there and do the very best you can. don't hold back. and don't think someone looks like a dork because they didn't do well. Not everyone can be good at everything.

WELL FIRST OF ALL IF YOU THINK THAT WAY YOU WON'T DO GOOD. THINK POSITIVE, AT LEAST YOU ARE TRYING, AND THAT DOES COUNT FOR SOMETHING. SO GO FOR IT AND DON'T WORRY WHAT OTHERS ARE THINKING, AND WHO CARES WHAT THEY SAY, GOOD LUCK.
