This is about people who are fake and superficial, people that pretend to be what they are not just to be accepted and loved in society. Amy Lee wrote it when her sister started turning into one of these people. She was trying to say you should always be yourself for you, and no one else. It doesn't matter what other people say as long as you're happy with who you are, and you aren't pretending.

Regarding what The Hand That Feeds said...Stinkfist isn't even actually about that...it's only used as a metaphor. But, whatever. I still love that song, it's one of m favourite Tool songs actually :D Also, Lily, I must say I still love Mailman! I thought it was about neither depression nor sex but...what does it matter? It's still a great song and personally, I think there's nothing wrong with a song about sex..although I see where you're coming from and I may have thought the same when I was fifteen. Just remember, a song can mean whatever you want it to. Just because it was written about a particular thing, doesn't mean that's what it has to mean to you. Oh and to answer your question, no!

Its pretty much about a women who has everything but the true thing she wants and needs and that is love by someone else, in other words she has to be just perfect to everyone else and not being her self....... kind of like the title of the song everybody's fool.... in other words she has everyone fooled into believing she is just the model of the perfect women

Carrie Lee’s fascination with pop stars such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera was the inspiration for the song. Amy Lee said that Carrie, 8 at the time, started to dress as those two superstars and that it angered Amy.

Well, if you watch the video, it's about her being a put-on. it shows her as a woman that seems innocent, but has a dark side. when she talks about being everybody's fool, she isn't fooling everybody as much as she is fooling herself.

I used to think, that the song was about this little picture-perfect girl, who everyone adored. But inside she was nothing.

And yes, it IS about that, but it's more about not feeling good enough, and people thinking, that you're perfect, when you're really not. It's about Amy Lee herself, and that, you can also see in the video.

I heard Amy Lee say once that its about how she thinks certain celebrities are so fake and just singing about how they fool everyone around them.
