I don't think losing an illusion makes one wiser. Most people (myself at times too) hold on to an illusion for various reasons. Comfort is one reason. Not having to confront the fact that it IS an illusion is another. I think illusions are a tool we use to smooth out the bumps and rough spots in life. An easy out from reality if you will. Accepting the fact that it is an illusion makes one stronger, not wiser.
Finding a truth does not make one wiser either. Quite the opposite. Only by being wise does one find truth.

probably finding a truth, but i would have to think maybe part of losing an illusion is just that. otherwise why was it just an illusion, and not a truth?
