People will be like to me " Go back to your own country you f u c k i n g mexican" or even " go back wilth Osama Bin Laden and destroy America". I hear racist comments about me every day. Few people believes me about it. I am not a Mexican. I am from India. I see this hatred every day at school. Recently some asshole walked up to me and was like" where is your green card I want to see it" and got the whole class into it want to see a green card. I was born in America. People ask me if I am American and i will say "yes" and then they will say" No you aren't you don't look like one" What can I do? It is getting really bad. I live in a small Hell hole town which probably is why I am getting treated like this

Sounds like a closed-minded issolated population. It is not acceptable treatment or behavior that is being shown, and I understand what you are talking about (I think it is just human nature and fear of what is different). If it makes you feel any better, the reverse does happen too. That is why I prefer living in an area that is so multicultural, that no-one is a minority or majority.

you dont gotta take that s hit or any kind of s hit. the sooner u realize that the better. You go to the administration. You tell them the problem. Racism is a crime in America. If you go into the street and call an african american a n igger you can be charged with a hate crime. If the administration doesnt do anything get the law involved. And defend urself. Walking away is the best thing because stupid people are plenty in america. Truth is all the baby boomers loaded up on acid and lsd and their sperm is so tainted and weak that now all their kids need ritalin to do good in school. Ritalin is just speed and add is just a made up word for stupid. If you walk away and they continue to do it buy following u or lay a hand on you, spray them in the face with mace. You have every right to do so when ur harassed incessently. And something else, when people ur gonna see every day get in ur face tell them off or theyll keep doing it. Relax. Life is too short to waste with stupid people and stupid things. Also if u do something u enjoy u wont care wat people say. Find a hobby or a girlfriend or both. Good luck. God bless.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. Please ignore the immature and rude users who didn't take your question seriously. You should not have to return to your home country! That is absolutely ridiculous! Unfortunately this world is not always a pleasant place, and some people are too narrow-minded, content to live in their own little bubbles, and will refuse to accept and appreciate diversity. Some people see diversity and difference as a threat, rather than as a chance to learn about new and different cultures, and grow and evolve as a human. Personally, I enjoy learning about different cultures and being exposed to diversity. I don't see it as a threat. However, I am reasonably educated, and came from a tolerant and accepting environment. Racism and Prejudice is learned, and such people are content to remain lazy and perpetuate the ideals of their environment/town/family, etc, and never venture out beyond that narrow little world. Why? Because it's laziness, fear, and the simple fact that there are people in this world who just need a reason to hate...they just need a reason to find a scape goat. You are from another country, so you are an easy target. I can guarantee that if you were not around your school to pick on, those same ignorant students would find another "easy" target, such as the heaviest student, most quiet student, most eccentric, etc...

Just hang in there, and realize that not everyone is like that. Let your experience make you stronger. Rise above it. See those people who are insulting you as weak and small-minded. That will give you power over them. If they are unable to affect you with their slurs, then they will be rendered powerless. Words only have power when we allow them to.

Most Americans are NOT like that. You are harassed because you are a kid in school in a small town, and you are different in looks from the others. Unfortunately you cannot make them change. The best you can do is to start by making one friend, and then another. Eventually you'll have a little group on your side. It isn't a foolproof plan, but it is a constructive plan and I hope it works for you. Kids are cruel, you know that.

Is an American flag t-shirt a bad idea to wear once or twice, or a flag on your notebook? It seems that might subtly let them know you support the US, Good luck to you, and God bless you.

I'm sorry!! You know it's almost like being a minority racism is everywhere you can't control it. Do stand up for yourself though buddy. Tell your parents and your school principal about the abuse and maybe that will help. If you happen to know the names or classes or something about the bullies give that to them to! I don't like what's going on with the war and all with all of these people dying for no cause, however racism in any form to anybody is not right!! All people are beautiful and interesting as I'm sure you are too I bet you are a very beautiful person when you get to know someone! Really try what I've said!!

I don't want to suggest you leave your friends and family, but it may help if you visited some large cities like, Atlanta, New York, and LA. These cities are so diverse and multi-cultural, you never feel alone. The only thing I cant guarantee is that you will be free of racism. It comes in so many sources, race, gender, financial status and even political beliefs. Just the other day a motorist was rammed with her car because she had a Bush/ Cheney bumper sticker. This man really wanted to do her harm. If you are afraid to say anything for fear of backlash, then look for support groups in your area or just TRAVEL.

People are racist all over America, not just small little hell holes. It's just stupid ignorance. In small towns they probably don't have a lot of folks other than white and they're not accustomed to anything different. Usually when people like this are challenged on their beliefs or what they say they back down. They can't find a reasonable justification for what they're saying. If you do speak up, do so in a calm, rational manner. It's hard to argue with someone who is making more sense than you are.

Everybody that lives in America came from another country. Only the native americans came from here, and honestly I think they immigrated from Russia before the sea took over the land next to Alaska. You are dealing with ignorant people, and everybody is not like that. I work with many races and they are all good people. Ask these jerks in your school what country they come from. Also you can report them, they are harrassing you, and that is against the school rules, I know it is. There are lots of rules protecting students from harrassment. Report them to your favorite teacher or to the principal, and keep in mind that this treatment is not what everyone will do. good luck

This happens specially in the US because they are people who have everything and most of them think they are perfect they have everything they want and dont know how hard it is to the rest of the world to live under their shadow. I am mexican and I lived in the US for a while, I did not get racist comments very much, and I met a lot of great people (cause not all of them are like that) but if someone where to say something like "go back to your country" I would say "give me my country back, you stole it from us".
We'll actually we were forced to sell it to them, they threadend us, if we didnt sell them the terretorries they would invade us.
Still I hold no grudge against them, its just a way for them to deal with something they dont understand.

I hope no one felt offended by my comments, if so, I apologize.

They say mean things because they are immature pr**ks whose own self confidence is so low that they have to make themselves feel about themselves by degrading others. You just have to stand up for yourself no matter how hard it is and tell them that your ancestors are from India but you were born and raised in this country and you are no less of an American as they are. If you say it enough and loud enough they will get your point and back off. Good Luck & Best Wishes!
