What will for me as Asian be different when I move to the States regarding the working culture? I'm used to long working hours, receiving detailed working instructions and misstrusting working climate. Will it be in the States (San Francisco) the same?

Yes, Long Working Hours and a Misstrusting Work Climate.. In addition I might suggest that at least for my experience, a different style in approaching disagreement or the trust/credibility.

Malaysian culture from my experience was very hardworking and similar in work ethic, but emphasis on the relationship might cause them to be more reserved about expressing an alternative approach than the more direct, although not entirely more productive approach.

In San Francisco, and really much of the bay area, the silicon valley locations are many implants from other places, and some locals-- which results in considerably less "family" heritage businesses, I think.
