Right click "My Computer">properties>Advanced tab>Click the performance settings button>advanced tab>click the vitual memory change button...
This will open the "Virtual memory" window where you can set the size for your VM or have Windows manage it.
I suggest you select "System managed size" (Don't forget to click the "Set" button before you exit).
Your Pc restarts automatically.
Bingo.

Ok, some one said NO RAM well ok if he has to replace it in the first place that means more RAM so it contradicts what you said. This is a thumbs up for all the ones that said more RAM is correct. Also he has tons of things in the back ground running constantly running. Heres what you do check the resources like in TASK MANAGER the way I see it your ganna have to close down remove a bunch a things or upgrade the RAM to a solid Gig.

Apart from the obvious need for more RAM, you'll need to increase your Paging file (your virtual memory).

Open the start menu and right-click on the "my computer" icon - select properties. Go to the " advanced" tab. Under "performance" open settings, and again navigate to the "advanced" settings on that page. Under "virtual memory" select "change".

Noiw, as a bare minimum, you should have at least 1 1/2 times the amount of RAM installed set as the minimum size. If that is not proving to be enough, double that, and set the same values for minimum and maximum values to prevent fluctuation (and fragmentation of paging file.

Restart your system for changes to take effect

People are telling you you need more ram but what they didnt notice is that you already have over 1GB of it already. Which is more than enough for any version of windows currently released. I had this issue with my last computer and sure enough it was 'leaky ram' from Samsung. I think you may just have a bad module of Ram. Please dont mess with the windows paging file like people are suggesting. Windows automatically controls its size depending on usage. Unless you want a bogged down hard drive as memory is constantly offloaded onto it I suggest you leave it alone.

Get more RAM. You may be running too many programs at once. You can't get worse than me right now running 256mb ram on Windows XP (It's not my computer though thank god). But check your RAM or cut down at how many programs are running at once (and by your clock). Also restarting the computer once and a while will help it.

My Mac doesn't have these problems :-)

The fastest and easiest way is to add more RAM to your PC. You also should not have too many windows open at the same time, it will use up all your RAM.

Since you obviously have plenty of RAM, just shut down your computer once and awhile. You can't let it run all the time. Either just shut it down or restart it to give your computer a chance to rest and reset itself.

Shut down programs that you are not using. Or you can add more RAM, a bigger hard drive.
