Yes, and the statute of limitations on them is 3 years, to the best of my knowledge. However, keep in mind that they are limited by the Statute of Frauds. Some people here have given you some bad advice. Witnesses are helpful, as is any correspondence you have had with the individual you contracted with. However, neither are necessary!

A verbal contract is legal in every state. It is just more difficult to prove that an oral contract exists, and if you can prove that it did exist, then you have to prove what the exact agreement was. If you have an email, note, or other writing, even if it is not in a legal "contract" format, they can be used to corroborate your version of what the oral agreement was. Also, if there were any witnesses to the agreement, they can help establish whether or not there was an agreement, and if so what the terms of the agreement were.

As far as I am concern, verbal contract are practiced in our daily life but for some serious contract, only the men of honor could be deal with it.
