I am a 27 year old stay at home mom with a 4 year old daughter...basically I am the mom and the dad too. I realized I need to go back to school and get a degree because I have a feeling I am going to be doing this (supporting my daughter alone) forever. I would like to get my degree in something I'd be able to use at home....I was considering majoring in business and minoring in accounting ...or vice versa. Any ideas??????? My parents have been supporting us ....and it's been awesome...but I really need to go out and get something for myself and for my daughter.

I agree that business and/or accounting will provide you the opportunity to work from home as a consultant, accountant, purchasing agent, sales, etc. Don't dismiss the thought of website design either. The primary focus on your education should be relating to setting up your own business from home where you are the boss to set up your own salary, hours, etc. You will make more money that way than working for someone else.

Get a technology degree. Try to get A+ certified you can fix computers. Or try to go food service and open a catering business from home.

Technology has long hours. Marketing is where companies make money and you can be creative and look good to the company. I would at least take a class or two on marketing.

Well you certainly have proven you can multitask. :D

I have worked from home for 6 years now in my job in IT.

In some areas, for example Alpine Access in Colorado hires people to deliver customer service from home-- all they do is 100% work from home, but in the local area.

Other jobs that allow you to work from home after you have established yourself offer positions that allow you to telecommute in sales, some marketing, some program management, even some administration.

However don't pay for a job.. Anyone wanting you to buy a job is missing the point.
