Were they all written at the same time, by the same person? Did they start out with the same tune or evolve that way over time?

They all revolve around a simple beat centered on a major triad. I,II,III, vii. With a tune theme this simple, it was pretty much inevitable.

An interesting piece of music to listen to is Mozart's variations on this tune, I forget the Korchel listing, but any classical music teacher will be able to lead you in the right direction.

they aren't exactly the same tunes... each song has a slight variation from the others. it's an easy, catchy tune that children can pick up easily :)
