my lit tecaher for 9th grade gave me a assignment on epithets and metaphors.
for EX: she gave a schoolbus/epithet=the yello,wheel-footed beast. metephor=the yellow beast belched its intended victims upon its destined arrival.
please help i need a epithet and a metsphor for a cell phone, a computer, tv, calculator, ipod, car/suv, video game(xbox 360,ps3,gameboy,etc.) credit card, oven, and a plane
note after a computer the rest of the list can be any 21st century items i choose the last eight but if you know others instead of these please help.

thank you if you can only give one or a couple of the answers it would be helpful too.

I will give you a couple to start from, but like the last answerer, I'm going to make you do the work.

One example:

A computer is like a dog that is well trained. It listens to commands and does what you want it to do...most of the time. Then it up and decides to do its own thing and leaves you stranded holding an empty leash. Play with this one and put it into the formula your teacher would like.

Some things that come to mind when I look at your list:

one is like a ticket that lets you do things
another is like a parade that goes by, often with surreal characters
another is like a purse in which you hold things and take them out , ready when you need them.
another is a bird
another is a crowded obstacle course

some of these can be used for the same ones, but this is a start. Does it help any? I really want you to do the work, but understand that sometimes you need a jump start.

Good luck -

I teach High School Literature, no I am not going to give you answers, but Yes, I am going to help you. List the items and then brainstorm, Come up with as many adjectives that you can for them that describes them, then think creatively, what do they remind you of? THen think sarcastically, what are the problems that they produce? Your epithets and metaphors should come more easily.
