Which method do you recommend for smokers trying to quit?? My boyfriend has been smoking for 5 years and decided he would cut down and eventually quit for me. He is looking for some recommendations for a helpful way whether its the patch or gum. We dont have enough money for the shot and were just hoping for some helpful hints. Thanks a bunch

Tomorrow it will be 3 weeks that I have quit smoking. I recommend cold turkey. I have quit many different ways in the past, patches, gum, cutting back and cold turkey. I find that cold turkey is the hardest for the first 3-4 days but after that it is much easier then the alternatives. The alternatives keep nicotine in your body, so it prolongs the inevitable anyway..... which is nicotine withdrawal. Cold turkey and he'll be OK after a couple weeks. Good luck to him..anyway he chooses is hard so be supportive!

i quit four days ago and did it cold turkey...expected to eat everything in site and be a grump, but just the opposite has happened....i am more laid back and i have a loss in appetite due to stopping so fast. Life is smelling and tasting a lot better already...the first three days...stay away from any smoke at all.......it is the only way i could do it....hope it helps...a smoke free life is wished for you....it gets better with each day. michelle~~~
