I walked on my 12 year old daughter touchign herself earlier... I got out before she could see me and I don´t know what to do. I was playing with barbies when I was 12. Isn´t she too young for this?

Be glad she is just touching herself and not touching a boy or vice versa. If you haven't already then it's probably time to talk with her about sex. It is not too young. Girls are maturing faster in this century then they were in your century. Twelve is an age that the hormones start flowing and it is natural for her to be curious.

Look, she's almost a teenager. She's thinking about "stuff," and she's curious as to what it feels like. If you want you can talk with her about sex-related issues and give her warnings, but she might just think you're being paranoid. I don't think she seriously wants to have sex anytime soon, so let her have some fun. As for the barbies, generations change. Keep an eye on her and she'll be fine. I admire your heartfelt concern for her health, and encourage you to lighten up. Panic doesn't do any good. Hope your kid grows up healthy and happy. :)

I don't think it is too young, however I would talk with her about those parts of her body, menstruation, sex & pregnancy, while she is young...(if sex is something you regularly talk about, she will be more likely to come to you with questions) Other wise she will ask her friends... Be as honest & upfront as possible & don't lose your temper, there is no such thing as a stupid question! You should probably try to find out if this is just because she is curious, or if she is sexually active, or even being abused! Good luck!

No way. I used to do it all the time. She is just exploring herself. If you haven't already done the birds&bees talk now would be a good time. If you alrady have maybe you could sit down with her and let her know that masturbation is ok and all that stuff. Just a few suggestions. Hope this helps.

My advice is to knock before going into her room next time. Their is no "too young" for exploring her own body just the same as their is no too old.
Respect her privacy and try to treat what you saw as normal because it is and only your reaction is abnormal.

well not realli..by 12 are hormones start ragging..so this is normal for a 12 yr. old..let her know you saw her touching herself though..so needs to know she was caught cause next time she might just try it with the real thing.

This is normal. Isn't it normal to be curious- especially about our own bodies., 12 year olds are known for experimenting. Be happy it was herself and not somebody else.

girls are different these days. Has she started her period yet? I would just make sure if she had started that you need to make sure she knows plenty about sex and what will happen and maybe put her on B/C because if she is that comfy with herself then you need to worry about guys!!! Don't freak just talk to her and know it is normal.

she is not too young. i started at 10. it's normal and natural.
heck, even babies do this. don't be uncomfortable...your daughter is a sexual being...we all are. i know it sounds icky...but it's normal. don't stress.. just make sure she washes her hands. lol!!
