I started teaching college shortly after i graduated college. I taught at a 2 year vocational school. one that you can graduate in 18 months. I only had a bachelors degree. I also came into the field with several years experience. We even hired some teachers with no college degree. It really depends on the accreditaion of the college.
For a standard college you need to have a minimum of a Masters degree. Most colleges recommend a Doctorate. Having said that, many feel a doctorate in IT is pretty useless apart from teaching.

You can start by getting a Phd in information technology, Electrical engineering or computer science. Then perhaps a few years in the private sector and obtaining a reputation for talent and expertise.
That is if you are seeking a tenured position in a reputable college.
