Okay, so the government can in their infinite wisdom decide that people of the same sex cannot marry, that a man can't have more than one wife, and that a young woman like Anna Nicole Smith can't marry an old billionaire. Wait, they can't stop Anna. And even if they don't want to recognize it as a marriage, the government can't stop two men (or women) from living together as though they were married. As a matter of fact, if a man wanted to be polygamous, as long as he didn't try to marry all of them, he could live with as many women as he could get to fall under his spell.

The point here is that all the government can do is regulate the "legal" marriage, but they can't stop people from living the way they want.

So what can advocates for the "traditional" family do to protect it?

Unfortunately, under the Constitution, not a thing can be done about it because it would infringe on that person's rights. I agree with you, but again, not a thing to be done. However, to make sure your children (and thus, your traditional family) are not tainted, I would suggest bringing them up in an area that does not have people like that, and instilling in them good values and morals. If enough advocates do this, then we can keep the traditional family alive - and perhaps socially drive out the unacceptable "families" that are threatening our way of life.

the problem is mainly rooted in what kids learn is okay. If parents let them watch TV the entire time, they will mimic much of what they watch (sex and drugs 24/7). To protect the family, parents must spend more time with kids and they must monitor what their kids are watching. This way, kids learn and mimic good values instead of the crap on TV.
