I am in the school drama club. I am VERY good. At least that what everybody tells me. Well, I'm very lud, and ver informative on stage. Basicly their isn't anything bad with my acting. Plus I'm not nervous. Although I'm not nervous, when up there my face is a red as a pepper, and I feel as hot as the sun. What can I do to stop this?

well you are the man, all you gotta do is drink something cold before performing, and so that stuff in your stomach will cool you down and since you will feel more relax you wont have that happen to you. also take care of them bullies i told you how already, by the way have you started yet?

Drama club is a lot of fun. In most cases, the school puts on one musical production a year that goes up around the spring time, but you start rehearsing in the fall. Be prepared for a LOT of drama. You need to be dedicated and stick with it once you get involved. Besides acting you can do costumes, lighting, set design etc. The week before the show goes up is usually dress rehearsal week called "hell week" we would start rehearsing after school and end at midnight. There is a lot of pressure if you get a part to learn the script, acting, etc. But it's really fun. In my opinion, there is no better feeling then taking a bow at the end of the show. Good Luck!

John, there may not be much you can do about this. Reddening is a physiological reaction--something your body does without your mind's "permission," as it were--and therefore not something you're in control of.

Remember, too, that stage lights are many hundreds of times hotter than your average room's lightbulbs. Your body does feel a bit like it's in the sunlight when you're onstage! That's part of the reason we actor-types wear that thick makeup; it helps conceal the redness. I am also prone to this, so I now know to mix a little green tint (I have a Ben Nye color wheel that does the trick) into my base makeup. This counteracts the red somewhat.

Finally, know that even if you're not nervous, your body may be reacting (quite naturally) to your brain's messages that you're on stage and people are looking at you. Ask your director to teach you some breathing exercises to help you focus more on what's happening onstage and less on how you're feeling about it and that may also help.

Blushingly yours,
Waldy

I LOVE to act!
And I'm quite good, or so they say...
But, as an answer for your question I suggest a little powder maybe...
It'll just help make the red not show. As for the hotness, comes with the job... Sorry!

If you love drama as much as I do, then you'll go for it. Imagine the stage being a mirror in which it is only you. When I'm on stage I forget about everyone and everything! GOOD LUCK!

Hmm...maybe you're TOO enthusiastic about being up there?

I'm not real sure what you could do to fix it other than to drink more water, splash your face with water before you go on (to help cool it down), and maybe add some powdered foundation to tone it down a bit.

i used to do that too.

take deep breaths once you get up there and wear col clothing so you dont get hot. i know the stage lights are real hot buy hey, thats ok. it gives you a reason not to wear blush on preformance nights though!

act like your talking to your friends. i mean, my drama class is like my family, i love them and i am not nervous around them.

have fun. DRAMA ROOOOOLES

Just a fact: Um...stage lights make people sweat. We have to put s on our mic packs so the sweat doens't blow a circuit. And if you sweat you sometimes get red...thta's just how it is. Use make up and blush to make it look realistic.

I'm the same way. you just have to keep putting yourself out there and get used to it. Soon it won't happen as much.
